Feedback to TheresnoTime@aol.com Thank you ----------------------------------------------------- I am passing out now in your arms, even as the danger is flying above us. I force myself to stay conscious and ask if you are okay. You say you are fine….I lose my fight and the blackness engulfs me even as your fingers dance across my throat, checking the strength of my pulse. In this dream I have between being alive and dead, I see you again, sitting calmly in your partner’s office. It is all I can do to cry out at you, Scully . . . I can’t find him! I’ll never find him, Agent Scully, please forgive me! I can’t do this . . . not alone. But I’ve always done everything alone…. And then the lights in the office go black except for a soft light that emanates from your face. Your face is full of disappointment, staring right at me. And then the darkness completes. I open my eyes and I am in a hospital bed. My shoulder aches, where something got me but I can’t remember if it was a bullet or - - what it was - - “John Doggett.” There is a nurse standing there, holding a syringe. “You’re awake, agent. Just lie still, we need to do some more tests to make sure you haven’t broken a rib. Do you understand me agent?” No, I don’t understand. There’s no pain in my ribs. I try to tell them but there’s something over my mouth. I try to shake my head back and forth but I can’t move. They’ve strapped me down. And faraway I hear a shocked voice, then screaming. What’s going on? It’s Scully screaming. “Agent Doggett! Make them stop! They’re taking my baby, John!” Her mournful cries as she screams for me to help her echo throughout the hospital room -- but I can’t move. I am trying so hard to move, fighting the restraints. I look at the nurse and he’s sticking the syringe in, and it’s not long before I am in blackness again. And it is there in the blackness that I see Luke. “Dad,” he says, putting his hands out to me, smiling that beaming smile. It is rare that he is in my dreams, and I feel his radiant presence. “Dad, you don’t have to be alone anymore.” It is then that I wake up, safe and warm, and you are there holding my hand as I cough my surprise. “How are you feeling, Agent Doggett?” And seeing the warmth of your eyes I know it’s for real this time. “Agen’ Scully, you’re in danger,” I say as I try to rise, making as if to sit up but feeling dull pain turn to a mistake as it shoots through my body. I writhe in it, but continue, “Scully, you are, aren’t you? There’s something wrong !” The look on your face tells me I’m right. I lay back as the pain intensifies, unable to control my body’s need to rest. “Please relax, Agent Doggett. You’re badly hurt and you need to just, … to just wait…” The doctors rush in and you turn your back to me, shaking as you fight off your tears.
