Title: Merry Christmas Author: Doggett's Bitch For the purposes of this little Christmas snippet, Mulder is still missing and Wee Willie the evil mobile-turner never happened. **** Dammit. Snowed in. Wrapped up in a blanket after her shower, listening to Christmas carols on the radio. Nothing moving, not at the airport, not on the street, nothing nowhere. Dana Scully was well and truly alone on Christmas Eve. No way to get home in this storm. Hell, she didn't even have a dog, Queequeg having met his unfortunate end some years ago. The snow was so heavy she could barely see the streetlights, coming down so hard and so fast she wouldn't even have been able to hear the sliver bells supposing they'd actually been going ring-a-ling. And at home, there were no chestnuts roasting on an open fire. No turkey cooking in the oven. No stockings hung by the chimney with care... No one. Nothing. No presents to give or receive. Just her cramped little apartment and her thoughts. Which were all over the map right now. Mulder had been gone for so long. She'd have welcomed his companionship. Nothing romantic, she'd always thought of him as a brother. Just a friend to have around over the holidays. She always thought she was fine on her own. But it was Christmas, and she was lonely. The snow muted all sound. What little traffic there was sounded far away. But wait... what was that? Bells? She wrapped her blanket more tightly around her and went to the window. No, nothing out there. But she was sure she'd heard something... There it was again. Closer. Yes, bells. Then another bell. Her doorbell. She rushed to the door, grabbed the knob and then thought the better of it... could be anyone. "Who is it?" "Dana, it's John." She opened the door. And there he stood, tall and strong, the man she'd welcomed so long ago with a face full of water, fairly buried in snow, dusting it off him and leaving it in her hallway, and holding a string of bells in his hand. "Merry Christmas, Dana," he said. She began to laugh. He must have walked for blocks... snow was falling off him, and he held that ridiculous string of bells in his hand. Her blanket slipped as she reached for the door to close it. "Come in, John, oh my god, what the hell were you thinking?" His steel-blue eyes fixed on hers. "I was thinking I had to wish you a Merry Christmas. Did Santa bring you everything you wanted?" Dana let the blanket slip further, exposing milk-white shoulders. And then she let it expose much more. And she whispered, "Yes. I think he just did. Merry Christmas, John." ----------- Merry Christmas from Former Captain Doggett's Bitch. I love you, SHODDS!!!
