Enjoy -------------------- The office is dark, and the only light source is from the lamp I have on my desk. I look down at my pile of law books that were once on the bookshelf across the room. I have come so far only to be put down in the basement. Way I hear it, the X-Files unit is a joke. No one gets out of the rut once assigned to the unit, and I'll be workin' with Agent Scully. I set my law book into the box and look around my empty office. What'll it be like workin' with her? Our first meeting wasn't the best. Got water tossed in my face for doin' my 'meat and potatoes' detective work. She doesn't trust me. I gave her reason not to in my first meeting with her, pryin' like I did with her relationship with Fox Mulder. Still don't know if those rumors are true or not. She seems feisty, yet fragile at the same time. That's what I sense anyway. She seems closed off. Not sure if that's because of the 'man's world' she works in, or something else. When I told her I was assigned to her unit, I couldn't read her reaction. I don't know if she's happy about that or not. I hope I don't let her down. I want to do my best. I told her I would find her partner. They seem close, he must mean a lot to her. I sit down and look at my watch. It's almost eight at night. A part of me doesn't want to go home because I know tomorrow when I wake up I'll be down in the basement. Kersh must see me as a threat to him. I don't know how since he's one man removed from bein' the Director. Agent Scully and A.D. Skinner warned me that this could happen to me. I was set up to fail. I guess I'll have to keep rollin' with the punches. The End. -------------------- Love it? Hate it? Let me know! monicaxrohrer@gmail.com Like my work? Want more?
