She was here……the journey seemed to take forever but she’d made it and was now more petrified than ever. The building itself was busy, people in their suits and uniforms coming in and out in all directions, She checked her watch “Ah! Typical……Dinner time how the hell will I find him now” “Who are you looking for ma’am” Scully spun around to a familiar voice, it was her ‘Therapist’ smiling down on her all innocent “What are you doing here” Scully faced her and folded her arms this was getting all to weird “Well I was trying to help you ma’am but if u don’t need any help I guess I’ll be…” “No wait a minute, you don’t remember me” “Should I?” Scully gave her the once over just in case she’d got it wrong but no! it WAS her, just in a different outfit, she was sure of it “I’m…I’m sorry I must have got you mixed up with someone else” She decided to let it rest “That’s ok…he’s over their by the way” scully turned to the direction she was pointing “Hey…hold on just a minute how did you…” as scully turned back to confront the woman but she had disappeared. Scully rubbed her eyes and stood in confusion, she looked around but the woman was nowhere to be seen. She was left stunned and a little frightened actually. “I’m going mad……seriously Dana get a grip” She turned back and headed towards the place the woman had pointed out. As she came nearer she saw a small cafeteria and stopped an agent who was coming out of it “Erm excuse me sir” “Yes ma’am” “Hi erm would you happen to know where I could find agent Doggett” “Your in luck……he’s right inside” “Oh…Thanks” Scully was shocked at how easily it had been to find him, her temperature rose on the spot and her pulse was threading. “Good luck” The agent winked at her and left, Scully blinked in total disbelief of how weird this day was beginning to feel “Its just your imagination Dana” She tried to retrieve herself and headed into the cafeteria She spotted him immediately, who wouldn’t! His broad stature and tall physic made her heart skip a beat, the flash of his eyes made her weak at the knees. She felt dizzy, her temperature must have been way off the chart…she was going……going…… Gone! Doggett rose from his table to inspect the commotion near the entrance of the cafeteria. He could see a small body spread out on the ground being fussed over by concerned agents A woman joined his side “Hey John what happened” “I don’t know, someone’s fainted I think…you know your first aid go see if they need help” “Yeah I guess I better” She made her way into the crowd and leaned over scully, Doggett couldn’t see through the gathering of people to see who it was, he just waited for the woman to return. “Ma’am……Ma’am! Can you hear me…can you say your name” Scully could hear a muffled sound, she tried to speak but her mouth was to dry and her head was spinning. The woman felt Scullys pockets and found her badge “Washington bureau? Hmmm…erm…D…Dana is that your name” The name hit Doggett like a tidal wave He had to know “C’mon guys make way, give her some space to breathe” The crowd slowly parted and he saw her “SCULLY!” he dashed to her side “You know her” The woman handed him her badge “Yeah we used to work together back in Washington……Scully can you hear me it's Doggett” Scully could hear a familiar voice she slowly opened her eyes to meet his gaze, She’d found him, she let out a sigh and tried to stand “Whoa there…I don’t think you should be on your feet yet” he guided her to a near table and sat her down. He knelt in front of her and rested his hands on her knees. Doggett over whelmed to see her he didn’t think he’d ever get the chance to again. She was still as beautiful as he remembered. His heart raced as he pushed a strand of hair from her face behind her ear. The woman noticed his expression and was instantly jealous of Scully; she knew she had competition now. “Dana…What are you doing here” “I…iya…I came to see you!” She was embarrassed at how vulnerable she felt right now, she noticed everyone looking at her “Erm do you think we could go somewhere more private” “No, John we have a meeting remember!” Scully looked at the woman and the woman looked at her they both new the score. “My name's Agent Hayes I’m John's partner……you can call me Ally” she stuck her hand out like a robot, scully knew the smile was fake and could of swore her eyes flashed a devilish red when she took her hand and shook it. “Nice to meet you…erm…Ally” But Scully quickly forgot her presence and returned to John “Do you think you could miss your meeting, I really need to talk to you” Scully could almost feel the heat from Allys red face, she felt quite smug with herself when Doggett begged Ally to make up an excuse for him and watching her storm away like that made her day. Doggett took Scully to his new office; it was huge, neat and very light a major contrast to his last office at the Washington beuro. She was proud of him but she realised how much she had been missing him over the years and how much she wanted to tell him about her feelings. “Sorry about Ally” “Sorry who?” They laughed together “Yeah I can tell she doesn’t like me…well who can blame her really, I turn up unannounced, make a complete fool of myself in front of the whole NY beuro and completely ruined your day schedule” “You haven’t ruined anything…and…it wasn’t the whole NY beuro…I’m so glad you came” He hugged her; Scully was taken back but enjoyed every second of it. “I’ve really missed you John” “I’ve missed you to” They looked at one another until the silence became uncomfortable “So…erm tell me” Doggett quickly moved the conversation along “What’s been going on with you lately” Scullys earlier experiences flashed through her mind making her smile “Ah…nothing much same old, same old” Nah! She wasn’t about to let him think she was completely crazy……just yet! “I heard you’re a doctor now…how come you gave up teaching” they sat down “Erm I haven’t I’m still teaching…I’m a doctor at night and I teach during the day” “Wow!” “What” “Your brilliant…sorry I mean you’re so great at that” Scully looked at him confused, he laughed and wheeled his chair around to where she was sitting…and boy was he close. “You know…its like you can do anything…sometimes you don’t even sleep, you could carry the world on your shoulders, god knows you already have” he placed his hand over hers his sudden movement shocked her. She took a deep breath and looked at him “I don’t think I’d be here if it wasn’t for you though……you helped me a lot and I never got the chance to thank you…to really thank you” Doggett noticed how low her voice had become, her eyes had softened and she was stroking his hand with her thumb. He smiled at her and she nearly died, oh how she missed that face, that expression, his pool like eyes where slowly drowning her, the feel of his skin beneath hers made her body shiver. “There’s something I’ve got to tell you John” She looked worried and that made him worried, he leaned in closer covering their hands with his free one “What is it” Scully breathed and was about to speak when…… “SORRY! I’m not interrupting anything am I” It was Ally; she flashed an irritating grin at Scully and made her way in. Doggett let go of Scullys hand and stood up, Scully followed “Agent Hayes! I thought you were in the meeting” “Yeah! They won’t start until you show your face JOHN” She looked at Scully again as if calling him by his first name gave her some kind of claim over him. “Interferisca ancora e darò dei calci al vostro asino” Scully mumbled something in Italian and Doggett laughed “What did you just say” Ally made her way towards her but Doggett jumped in “Erm hey Agent Hayes, why don’t you go back to the meeting and tell them I’m on my way” He gave her a pleading smile “sure anything for you John” Scullys stomach turned, the words were reciting in her head as she left grinning to herself “So…Dana…you’re going to kick her ass if she interferes again hmmm?” “Damnit and silly old me forgot you spoke the language fluently” She smiled and went to him “What where you about to tell me” “It…it can wait” “Well I’ll tell you what…meet me at this restaurant at 6:00pm and we’ll talk then ok” Doggett handed her a piece of paper “Can’t we meet earlier”? “Sorry no can do I’m meeting the wife! Look I better go I’m late see you tonight” and with that he left. Scully could almost hear her heart breaking the questions and regrets haunted her all the way back to the motel room there she drowned herself in tears. She was shocked at how bothered she actually was she’d always known that there was always going to be a 50% chance that he was already taken, but just hearing it from his mouth, after she’d seen him made it all the more surreal and all the more painful. It was 6:45pm; Scully had decided not to meet Doggett at the restaurant. She’d paid her room fee and was rushing to her car to get out of the rain when suddenly a figure stopped her. “Your late” It was Doggett, he was soaked “I’m sorry I have to go” she carried on but he grabbed her arm and pulled her to him “Was it something I said” Scully begged herself not to cry but she couldn’t help it, what she felt for this guy was real and it was hurting her so much not to be able to be with him “is this because I went to that meeting” Doggett looked so confused her yearning for him slowly turned to anger, the cold, wet rain was lashing down on her. “You haven’t got a clue have you” Her bitchy tone of voice shocked him and he stepped back. “What? What did I do!” He felt like a rabbit caught in the headlights as she began to cry “You know that is so typical” “Dana please…” he went to hold her but she pushed him away “DON’T! I can’t bare it any longer……I came all this way……I plucked up so much courage and for what! For you to turn around and tell me you have a WIFE!” Doggett couldn’t do anything but laugh “OH! So you think that’s funny……you think its funny to hurt people, to hurt ME! “What! How have I hurt you?” She sighed and retreated “Forget it John……it doesn’t matter anymore because I’m leaving” “Forever?” She didn’t answer him; she just opened her car and got in. he thought for a second “Oh shit! Dana……Dana wait please” he opened the passenger side door and got in “John don’t make this harder for me……its……its all my fault anyway, if only I’d come sooner or told you how I felt before you left” “Dana listen you’ve got it all wrong” “No John! You have to go……before I say something we may both regret” “Dana will you listen…” “I love you John……there I said it” “Dana I’m not marri…What did you just say” Scully turned to him and held his hand “I love you john……but its to late……I’m to late! I’ve wanted to tell you for so long but I guess I was just to stubborn……I’m sorry if I’ve confused you and I wish you and your wife all the luck in the world……please go now” Doggett watched her in silence as she wiped her eyes, He suddenly began to laugh hysterically “John that’s not making me feel any better” “Oh my god Dana……I think its me who should be apologising” he was still laughing “Dana……I’m…I’m not married” “What? But you said…” “Yeah I know what I said and I’m sorry it was just a slip of the tongue…I meant to say ex wife!” “Oh shit” Scully put her head in her hands, she was so embarrassed “I was helping her move in to her new place……I would of explained but I was late and I never thought you would take it that way……I’m sorry” “No! I’m sorry I yelled at you for no reason I feel awful” There was silence again; Doggett then remembered what Scully had just told him “Did you mean what you said” “What?” “Do you love me?” She thought to herself for a moment and Doggett grew worried “Of course I do” They looked at each other for a while, he couldn’t believe this was finally happening to him “I’m coming back to Washington with you” “You cant you have a job here now” “But I have you there and you mean so much more to me” She couldn’t take it any longer she wanted him now, she undid her seat belt and sat astride him devouring his mouth with hers. Doggett slowly peeled her jacket from her shoulders and stroked his hands up her back as their tongues entwined in pure lust. Scully slowly began to unbutton her shirt but was distracted as a bright light shone in her face followed by a tap on her windscreen They giggled together “Busted” Scully wound down her window and a police badge was flashed I her face “Erm…what’s the problem officer” “Can you step out of the car please ma’am” “Sure” She wound her window back up and kissed Doggett on the head “I’ll be right back” “I’m not going anywhere” “Ma’am do you realise there are motel rooms right in front of you” “Sorry officer I guess we just got caught up in the moment” “Yeah I know how it is…well do you mind moving into one of those for the night” “Sure thing officer” The police woman dropped her torch and scully realised who it was “Thanks for your time ma’am” “Hey! Wait a minute…its you AGAIN…are you like stalking me or something” “Excuse me ma’am” Scully took the officer by her arm and lead her away from the car so Doggett could not hear them “Please don’t start this again…you were there in the therapy room and you where there outside the NY bureau and if you deny it one more time I’m going to go crazy” “Oh! Okay I’m sorry” “Who the hell are you” “I’m your guardian angel” Scully began to laugh hysterically but stopped after seeing the serious expression on the woman’s face “Guardian angel? You? Right ok!” “You don’t believe me?” “I……I……I don’t know what to believe anymore” “Well you’re together aren’t you?” “Well you could say that…yes” “Well that’s all you should care about right now! You wanted to be together and I helped! Any way I think you better get back to ahem what you where doing…here” The woman handed Scully some room keys “Its room 49” Scully took the keys and laughed “Man oh man this is weird” Scully shook the keys in Doggetts direction and he laughed “Thank y……” Scully turned to thank her but she was gone she smiled to herself and was joined by Doggett “Who was that?” “Erm…just…some one I know” Doggett took the keys from Scully “If I didn’t know any better I’d say she was your guardian angel” he laughed sarcastically and made his way to the room “You coming” “Yeah……yeah I’m coming” Doggett wrapped his arms around her and they headed out of the rain.
