Spoilers- Um....sheesh. Anything regarding Scully’s
pregnancy 

Summary- “They had been lovers once, but now she
didn’t feel the same way.  It had been almost a year
since his abduction. She met someone new, and she 
fell for him.”

Disclaimer- Sadly, these characters are not mine, and
never will be. *sob!*

Note- I think that Essence (is that the name of part 
2 of the finale?) needed an alternate ending. This is
how I think it should have ended.

	Dana Scully looked down at her baby, who was 
cradled in her arms. Mulder and the Gunmen had just 
left, leaving her alone with her thoughts and her 
baby. She couldn’t believe what she had been through 
in order to have this baby. She was thankful of Agent 
Reyes. Without her, it never would have happened. 

	Scully thought back about the place where she 
had given birth. It was where Agent Doggett had been 
born. She had no idea. Of course, she had no idea 
about many things in his life. She wished that he 
would come and visit.  She wanted to make sure for 
herself that he was alive. She was nearly positive 
that Mulder had made it clear for Doggett to stay 
away, as he hadn’t even called her to tell her he was 
alright which was his custom. The only news she got 
about Doggett had come coldly from Mulder. 

	Mulder. Her eyes drifted shut. She knew that 
Mulder was in love with her. They had been lovers 
once, but now she didn’t feel the same way.  It had 
been almost a year since his abduction. She met 
someone new, and she fell for him. She would have to 
find a way to let Mulder know. When he kissed her in 
her bedroom, she didn’t know what to do so she kissed 
him back.

	Scully shook her head. She wasn’t going to 
think of Mulder right now. She looked back  again at 
her baby, who seemed to be growing slightly fussy. 
Scully put him down to go and get a bottle. She came 
back a few minutes later and offered the bottle to 
the baby, who refused to drink. His cries became 
louder. 

	“It helps sometimes if you warm up the milk,” 
came a low voice from  behind her. Scully turned and 
couldn’t help the smile that came to her face.

	“Agent Doggett! Where did you come from?” 

	He shrugged. “The parkin’ lot. Look. I know 
that you don’t want visitors or whatever, but I -”

	“Who told you that I didn’t want visitors?” 
Scully asked. When Doggett looked away, she knew that 
it was Mulder.

	“Well, that would explain why everyone but you 
has already stopped by.” she mumbled. Doggett smiled
apologetically, then stepped foreword.

	“Want me to hold ‘im while you warm up the 
bottle?” he offered. Scully smiled and handed the 
baby to Doggett, who looked at him and smiled. The 
baby gurgled and reached for Doggett’s face. He 
laughed and looked up at Scully.

	“He looks like you, don’t he?” 

	Scully smiled and walked out of the room. She 
warmed up the bottle and went back into the room. To 
her surprise, Doggett was talking softly to the baby. 
When Scully walked in, he looked up and smiled. He 
handed the baby back to Scully.

	“What’s his name?” he asked. Scully smiled at 
the baby, who was now accepting the bottle eagerly. 

	“William.” 

	Doggett nodded and smiled. Then, a dark look 
passed over his features.

	“Agent Scully -” he began.

	“John, please call me Dana while I’m at home. 
I really don’t want my baby thinking my name is 
Scully.”

	Doggett gave her a small smile.

	“Dana, whatever you do, promise me something.”  
He said, moving closer.

	“What?”

	Doggett leaned right down to her ear.

	“Keep him safe from the big, bad wolf.”

	Scully looked up at this man, a man who had 
lost everything that mattered to him. She looked down 
at her baby.

	“I’ll try, John. You can bet I’ll try.” she 
said softly. Doggett let go of a breath.

	“Right. Well, I’d better go before Agent 
Mulder comes back and accuses me of trying to take 
you away or somethin’. I’ll try to see you later.” he 
said with a nod. He turned to leave the room.

	“John?”

	Doggett turned and looked at Scully through 
tired eyes.

	“Yeah?”

	“Thanks.”

	“No problem.”

	Doggett was about to leave the room, but 
instead turned and walked back towards Scully. She 
put the baby back down just in time to be pulled into 
a bone crushing hug.

	“I’m glad you’re safe.” he said. After a 
second, Doggett tried to pull back but Scully latched 
herself on to him. They stood like that for a few 
minutes. Finally, she pulled back and looked at him.

	“You’re not going anywhere except to hang up 
your coat. I’m ordering you to stay here for awhile.” 
She said with a hard voice. Doggett grinned. Scully 
took the opportunity to reach up and brush her lips 
against his. He practically jumped. Then, he leaned 
down and caught her mouth with his. Scully let 
herself get lost in his kiss. This was definitely not 
how she felt when Mulder kissed her. Finally they 
broke it off, breathing hard. With a smile, Scully 
extracted herself from his arms and headed for the 
bathroom. Doggett looked after her. Just before she 
closed the door, she popped her head back out.

	“Oh. John?”

	He finally found his voice. 

	“Yeah?”

	“On your way to hang up your coat, could you 
order a pizza?”

	Doggett smiled.

	“Your wish is my command.”
