About serenity of x
”From my
first viewing of The X-Files my first and foremost
love of this series has been its mythology. I hope
that this website conveys that fact. Mulder, Scully,
Doggett, Skinner, Spender, Fowley, Follmer, Rohrer,
Reyes... they were only the cherries on top of an
alien mytharc ice cream sundae."
- Dana Doggett
Serenity of X (SoX - pronounced
just like "socks") was created because so
many times while trying to find screen captures from
"The X-Files" episodes we realized that screen
capture archives, already on the internet, did not capture
specific characters, scenery, etc. The sites we visited
seemed too focused on Mulder and Scully - who we love
dearly - but we wanted more to chose from than just
those two characters (and their head shots). We don't
just love "The X-Files" because of two characters,
we love ALL the characters that have ever been on the
show (well, there are two we could live without: Baby
William and Leyla Harrison, but that's it). So out of
years of frustration with other screen capture archivists
we decided to make this site. This site is basically
for us - and those of you who also get frustrated with
other screen capture artists - to easily access these
images, but if you have found your way here we hope
you enjoy the site too. We've put a lot of hard work
and time into creating this archive and hope that you
appreciate what we have to offer.

About Dana Doggett, By Dana Doggett
I am first and foremost a fan of the entire "The
X-Files" series and both movies.
I am a fan of all the characters, both liked and hated
by the fandom.
Yes, that means that I love Diana Fowley. She's a great
character.
I am a HUGE Doggett/Scully Shipper, it's my pairing
preference.
I am a Doggett/Reyes relationship Noromo.
I am a Mulder/Scully UST Shipper.
I wish "The X-Files" had never left Vancouver.
I love John Doggett and I love Fox Mulder at the same
time too.
I want to see John Doggett return in any third "The
X-Files" movie.
I am a fan of the mytharc, IMO, it is the most interesting
part of the show.
I began watching "The X-Files" in the summer
of 1998 when reruns of the fourth and fifth season were
being aired on FX. I never saw FTF in theatres, and
wish that I had since that would have been such an awesome
experience. I still hope for a threatrical re-release
one day of FTF so that I can see it on the big screen.
Before 1998 I hadn't really heard of "The X-Files"
(mostly because I lived overseas in Saudi Arabia, where
any new entertainment doesn't get there until years
later). I had heard the name "Cigarette-Smoking
Man" whilst eavesdropping on conversations at school,
I had seen the Rolling Stones cover with David and Gillian
in bed together, and I even caught the end of "Kill
Switch" when it first aired, but it wasn't until
I saw "Tunguska/Terma", "Memento Mori",
and "Never Again" that I decided that this
is "must watch" television. The whole alien
mytharc story appealed to me, the paranormal, law enforcement
and the awesomness that was "Never Again"
hooked me and ever since then I haven't been able to
turn away, not even when I thought doing such a thing
would be the best thing (after Scully annoucned her
pregnancy in the season 7 finale, "Requiem").
As a fan I've sat on all sides of the fence when it
comes to the Mulder/Scully relationship. I've been a
Shipper. I've been a Fencesitter, and after the kiss
in season 7's "Millennium" I made a permanent
home on the Noromo side of the fence. I still enjoy
the MS/UST pre-"Millennium", but that's where
it stops anything after that I'm 120% Noromo. Oh and
John Doggett is my absolute favorite character EVER
on television.

About Little Albatross, By Little Albatross
I am a confused Phile as I hate and love "The X-Files"
very much.
I am a fan of the show - the Vancouver years were the
peak of the show.
I love the later characters, which means I love the
entire series.
I adore minor characters like Bill Scully Jr. and Arthur
Dales.
Yes, this means "Travelers" is one of my all
time favorite episodes.
I love the villians and conspirators and crack up whenever
the First Elder panics.
I love that Quiet Willy wears a beret, and I cry every
time the Smoking Man died.
I was disappointed with the second XF movie, so much
so that I don't want a thrid.
I am a Mulder/Scully USTer, but love many unconventional
pairings.
I equally love Krycek and Knowle.
I never paid attention to much of anything, but when
Canadian neighbors brought over a tape of some season
2 episodes of "The X-Files", I found it rather
dark, creepy and cool. I first saw "The Host"
and thought it was kind of gross. Then came two powerful
episodes that would make me the Phile that I am today:
"Little Green Men" and "Sleepless".
I love the paranoia I felt from the show in "Little
Green Men". I love that Krycek was working for
the bad side in "Sleepless", and I desperately
wanted to know more about that guy who smoked cigarettes
who seemed to have authority. Then I forgot about the
show, until 1998 when my sister brought hom "Fight
The Future" on rental VHS (yes, back when movie
rentals were video cassettes). I fell madly in love
with the show. Mulder and Scully were strong characters
and somehow I felt connected to their search for the
truth and the conspiracy that was all over the movie.
I had to see more. Then I tuned into the television
and found season 4 was running in reruns on FX. "The
Field Where I Died" is the most memorable - it
still gives me goosebumps to this day. "Musings
of the Cigarette-Smoking Man" - Finally! I know
more about that mystery man with cigarettes. The cancer
arc. I was drawn in. Catching all the episodes I could
before the new season - and somehow I managed to see
them all! I am a fan of every aspect of the show: Mulder/Scully
(yes, I've been a shipper, a fence sitter and a noromo,
but I love their UST), the conspiracy and the Syndiate,
the informants, the monsters, the last two seasons and
their characters, and the mythology. I love the show
and I hate the show - I'm complicated. But at the end
of the day, I enjoy what this show was, what it brought
to television and would love to see it redeem itself
if a third movie were to actually happen.

Thank You...
First and foremost, this website would not have been
possible without the creation of "The X-Files"
TV series so... thank you, Chris Carter, for developing
the idea for this series and pitching it to Fox and
not giving up on getting them to pick up this little
show which became first a cult hit and then grew into
a show with mass appeal. Thank you for creating ALL
of the characters (good and bad, loved and hated, remembered
and forgotten, serious and flakey) up through the final
season and the second movie.
Second, we would like to thank ALL of the cast, writing
staff, and production crew of "The X-Files"
for dedicating chunks of their lives to bringing us
quality television for nearly a decade. All of you brought
your talents to the production of "The X-Files"
that gave this show its distinct look that no other
series has been able to match, even this many years
after the series finale. You all made this!
Third, we would like to thank the members of the Serenity
of X discussion forum. We know we've said this
before, but online, you guys are like family. Thank
you all for sticking with SoX in the good times and
the difficult and frustrating times. We not only thank
you for being such great friends, we also primarily
dedicate this site to you.
We hope that the Serenity of X website serves
as a worthy tribute to a variety of aspects of "The
X-Files" series. Though it has its flaws, it is
THE one show that is closest to our hearts, now and
always.
Dedications
PRIMARY DEDICATION:
The Serenity of X website is dedicated to our online
family which resides at the SoX Forum up until the launch
of this new design in 2010: DammitTony, krycekisthehotness,
Cindermuffin, Sue866, doggettfiles, Lilith, Miss Browncoat,
possibilitiesDSR, geekery, gorglaud, loopyallie, and
AD Skinner. SoX is also dedicated to Kryceksfox, for
we have known her the LONGEST online, longer than anyone
else. We love you guys!
SECONDARY DEDICATION:
To the fans of "The X-Files" who enjoy every
season from 1993 until 2002. To enjoy all nine seasons
is a very special thing, and I consider us fans - who
love especially those last two seasons - to be a rare
kind of X-Files fan so this site is dedicated to you
as well.
SoX Forum History
Few know that a handful of SoX members have been with
us since 2003, before the name Serenity of X (SoX) had
ever been created. The original idea for the SoX Forum
began in 2003 on a free discussion forum. The forum
was called "Foxy & Teso's Forum of Fun"
and it was a general "The X-Files" discussion
forum. The main concept behind that forum - which has
carried over to the current SoX Social Network - was
to be able to have a general discussion forum that was
free of fandom drama that tends to infect some other
general X-Files forums. Members of "Foxy &
Teso's Forum of Fun" were not your typical X-Files
fan, they were not die-hard Mulder/Scully shippers who
could not tolerate anything else other than their beloved
relationship preference, and they did not like being
attacked for having opinions that were not shared by
the majority of the X-Files fandom. All they wanted
was to have a safe place to come and discuss "The
X-Files" without the fear of being attacked for
their opinions and "Foxy & Teso's Forum of
Fun" was that place. Unfortunately in 2005 (after
a few forum relocations to other free forum servers)
- the now titled Serenity of X Forum - was hacked, this
is often referred to in these parts as The Big Damn
Hack of 2005. This general X-Files forum that had become
a home and its members like family had been destroyed.
In 2006 Dana Doggett (Foxytime) and Little
Albatross (Teso) had had enough of being harrassed and
hacked by bitter fans of "The X-Files" and
decided to figure out how to maintain a discussion forum
hosted on the web server they pay for. This new SoX
Forum was a hit for SoX members as it was capable of
having so much more options for interactivity and design,
and SoXers went on their merry way for three years before
being hacked again in 2009. The forum was attacked multiple
times throughout the twelve months of the year and finally
in early October of 2009, Dana Doggett and Little Albatross
gave up. There was nothing more they could figure out
how to do in order to secure the discussion forum that
they had hosted on their web server.
The SoX Forum was going to be gone forever
until one day Dana Doggett was posting on Frank Spotnitz's
Big Light social network and realized that SoX Forum
could make a comeback in the form of a social network.
On October 27, 2009 the SoX Social Network was born,
replacing the old (and hacker vulnerable) SoX Forum.
Dana Doggett and Little Albatross didn't expect a big
turnout after what had gone down with the old forum,
but as invites were sent out and a few loyal original
SoXers joined and spread the word, this new SoX Social
Network quickly gained more members than the previous
SoX Forum had had over the past few years. We had found
our new home. Having our group on a social network has
proved itself to be a good decision. The main concept
of the SoX Social Network is the same as when the SoXers
were established under the "Foxy & Teso's Forum
of Fun" era, to be a X-Files group with no drama,
no flame wars, no bashing, tolerant of unconventional
views, and always respectful towards others. Below you
will find a list of the new SoX family, and if you are
a fan of "The X-Files" who is not considered
a mainstream fan, and you tend to prefer the unconventional
over the conventional, or even if you are a conventional
fan who enjoys discussing the show with fans with different
opinions than your own, you are welcome to join us.
