Mellissa Scully

Although Scully's older sister slightly resembles her, Melissa is clearly a direct contrast to Scully. In the opening sequence of "One Breath" (2X08), Margaret Scully recalls that her daughter Dana, "unlike her older sister," was a tomboy. The grown-up Melissa was a believer in miracles and an enthusiast of charms and crystals. She shows up at her dying sister's bedside to commune with her spirit and dowse for her soul. Melissa thoroughly irritates Mulder with her New Age views and "harmonic convergence" babble.

In "The Blessing Way" (3X01), Alex Krycek is involved in a bungled attempt on Scully's life, resulting in the death of Melissa. But her sister's memory lingers with Scully, who tearfully tells her partner that "She died for me."
